Below are the dates for AILA New England’s 2019-2020 chapter meetings. Meetings are typically held at MCLE, located at 10 Winter Place, Boston. However, due to the COVID19 pandemic, meetings are currently being held exclusively online. Information about how to ‘attend’ the meeting or call in is included in the E-Blasts prior to the chapter meeting.
Unless otherwise stated, the format for each chapter meeting is as follows:
4:00pm – 5:00pm: Panel or presentation for newer attorneys
5:00pm – 5:30pm: Business meeting
5:30pm – 6:30pm: Main meeting panel or presentation
2019-2020 chapter meeting dates:
September 26, 2019: Former Government Officials Tell All! How to be a more effective AILA attorney! Learn the backdrop from these former government officials in what promises to be a very interesting exchange of information. The presenters are Sue Roy (TA & IJ), Steve Pattison (consular officer), and Katy Kahmann (CBP). The NMD meeting will take place at 4pm. Attorney Bill Joyce, a former EOIR Boston IJ, has kindly agreed to speak at the 4:00pm NMD meeting. The topic will be making a good first impression with Immigration Judges and other adjudicators, and maintaining a good reputation with adjudicators while zealously advocating for your client.
October 24, 2019: Speakers will present on key issues related to the F1 and J1 categories, including topics such as the effect of the now suspended unlawful presence litigation, preparing for ICE site visits & what influence foreign relations is having on the ability to get visas presented by a fantastic team of experts from local institutions of higher education.

November 14, 2019: Guests are District Attorneys Marion Ryan and Rachel Rollins, as well as the amazing Wendy Wayne of CPCS and they will discuss the courthouse litigation and other related issues.
